Sector Skills Alliance: EuropeActive gathered Fitness experts to discuss latest developments in the sector

The 4th meeting of the Sector Skills Alliance for the European Fitness (sub-sector) was hosted on 20th November 2019 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The alliance understands itself as a Think Tank for the industry seeking to gather and reflect the latest information related to the European labour market, skills, standards and qualifications. 

Ireland Active’s board member Barry Walsh moderated the SSA meeting, which provided a valuable update on recent labour market demands in the Fitness sector from Elisabeth Thienemann (EU Policy officer, EuropeActive), a presentation and discussion of EuropeActive’s annual employer skills survey (February 2020) with EuropeActive’s Director for Programmes Cliff Collins, and a presentation und reflection on the review of European standards for Fitness professionals by Dr Anna Szumilewicz.

The brainstorming session on the specific role for employers, VET providers and EuropeActive in human resource development was facilitated by Andrew Grant. The delegation involves professionals, VET providers, operators, and representatives from higher education and EuropeActive’s Professional Standards Committee.
